Giving Thanks

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 5:20).

We'd like to share a few of our thanksgivings with you!

Our children! Emmanuel and Cyrus bring us such joy. Manny is 21 months old and is using more and more words each day. He's just learning how "repeat-after-me" with prayers! He loves to read books, eat, watch Curious George, and hug his brother! Cyrus is becoming quite a personality! He's 6 months old now is teething. He loves to sleep, watch himself in the mirror, and be tickled.
The entry visas for Ghana arrived on Wednesday! We have our airline tickets, too! All we need now are our required Yellow Fever vaccinations.
Fellowship with believers! Our church family and others we meet along this pre-field journey are a great blessing to us. It's great to experience encouragement through Christian friendships!

The end of a busy week

We were thrilled to be able to present at 2 churches this past week! Our sending church, Grace Baptist Church, had a missions conference from Saturday-Wednesday. Another church, First Baptist of Pikeville, invited us to present our ministry on Sunday night. It was a little strange to pack up our display table in the middle of the missions conference at Grace Baptist, but we're glad we did. The people at the church in Pikeville were very friendly and it was a joy to meet the other missionary families who were also there for the church's Missions Sunday. We gave our testimonies, showed our presentation video, I sang while Andrew played guitar, and then Andrew spoke from Titus about training up national leaders.
We're getting really excited about our survey trip that's coming up in January. One of the missionaries who is working with BATA (The Baptist Academy of Theology in Africa) hopes to meet with us over there and discuss pastoral training in Togo. The more I t…

God is at work

We've had a busy month. Andrew is still working full-time with Costco and has schoolwork to do for his doctorate of Education from UTC. Work and school in addition to being a great dad and a wonderful husband keep him busy all the time. He's currently lying unconscious on the couch after a long day at work.
Sometimes I feel that we're not working hard enough to get to Togo. It amazes me that God is steadily moving us in that direction even though we don't have much time to focus on support raising! He is good! He continues to remind us that he directs our path.
Here is our latest family picture. No, they're not smiling, but at least the boys are both LOOKING!!!

Unexpected blessings!

We visited a small church near our house tonight, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. They surprised us when they sent us home with a generous love offering! Praise the Lord for unexpected blessings!
Several others have promised support as well. God continues to assure us that we are doing His will! We pray that those whom God uses to support our Togo ministry will be deeply blessed.

First Church Meeting!

This last Sunday we had our first church meeting! Andrew was able to preach in the morning and evening services at Calvary Baptist in Sparta, TN, and we both gave our testimonies. Even though the church was small we believe that we were a blessing to the members and it was good for us to get out of our comfort zone and share our ministry with this church family. One of our prayer requests is that God would use us during our pre-field time to spread our heart for missions to others. We know that He is accomplishing His will.

Hour of Prayer

We have been a part of two wonderful prayer meetings. Two weeks ago Bible Way Baptist Church held us up in prayer to the blessing of our family and pre-field ministry. This past Sunday evening we were blessed to join in prayer with members of Grace Baptist Church, our sending church.
Many of our friends and family who could not attend were praying for us at that same time! Perhaps those of you who are reading this post have prayed for us in your church or in your home. We hope so!
Please continue to bring our names before the throne of God. Please pray for us, our pre-field ministry, and the church in Togo.

Our prayer cards are ready!

Survey Trip to Togo

We're planning on taking a survey trip to Togo, West Africa in January. Pending approval, we would like to go during the first two weeks of January 2011. We will be looking at where the specific ministry needs are in Togo. We're going to be checking out the housing possibilities in the villages and cities that we are interested in moving to, and where we can spend the most of our time once we move to Togo.
We are looking forward to spending time with our teammates in Togo and discussing our team's ministry
Please pray that all arrangments will be completed in proper time for us to leave.
If you are interested in supporting us for this trip please contact us at andrewandmary[at]abwe[dot]cc or designate your gift as "pre-field trip for Andrew and Mary Ward" at
